Lenawee County, MI Public Defender’s Office
Description
The Lenawee County Public Defender's Office is located in Adrian, Michigan. The Lenawee County Office of the Public Defender is a Public County Organization committed to excellence in representing indigent citizens charged with misdemeanors and felonies. With one Chief Public Defender and one Deputy Public Defender, the office provides constitutionally guaranteed representation to citizens accused of a crime who cannot afford an attorney. In addition, their attorneys are experienced staff of attorneys whose sole function is to represent those defendants assigned to this office by the Court. Our personnel policy prohibits the attorneys from doing legal work outside of cases assigned by the Court. As a result, our sole focus and effort are directed toward our indigent client and not retained client or other legal matters. Further, this office is committed to maintaining the attorney-client privilege. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay and the right to a lawyer. Therefore, you should first contact the Lenawee County Public Defender Office for further assistance.
