Spartanburg County, SC Public Defender’s Office
Description
The Spartanburg County Public Defender's Office in South Carolina is a provider of indigent defense services. Their office has a team of one Circuit Public Defender, one Chief Public Defender and 16 Assistant Public Defenders, responsible for representing defendants in criminal court who are financially indigent. Public Defenders do not represent persons in prison and seeking release on parole. Public Defenders also do not represent persons on parole who have been charged with a parole violation and persons accused of non-payment of child support. State and federal law provide that all persons have the constitutional right to be represented by an attorney if they have been accused of a crime and the punishment for that crime could be a time in jail or prison. If that person is financially unable to hire an attorney, then the law provides that an attorney shall be appointed to represent them. If you are seeking criminal defense in Spartanburg County, please contact the Public Defender's office using the information provided on this page.
