Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham

Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham

Description

Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham (RCND) is an interfaith and inter-racial nonprofit organization that helps people most affected by collective violence. RCND works as a vigil ministry among homicide survivors, support circles for citizens returning from incarceration, and restorative justice practices that seek to repair the harm caused by wrongdoing. The coalition works with members of Durham’s faith, governmental, educational, health, and advocacy organizations to encourage, facilitate, and promote institutional reform and individual acts of compassion and reconciliation. RCND's Reentry Ministry seeks peace by building intentional relationships among people of faith and newly released prisoners that facilitate both collective and individual acts of compassion, reconciliation, and peace. RCND's Restorative Justice Durham is a collaborative project to integrate restorative justice practices in Durham’s criminal justice system. Working alongside volunteers, community partners, and criminal justice practitioners, RCND seek a restorative justice process that repairs of harm of crime and restores the relationships—both individual and collective—that were hurt by wrongdoing.
