Center for Community Alternatives

Description

The Center for Community Alternatives is an organization which prioritizes community-based justice and works to reduce recidivism. They encourage restorative justice and reduced usage of incarceration through a combination of direct advocacy, policy work in criminal justice reform, and services for affected individuals. Staff serve many populations, including young people at risk of entering the system, families experiencing life or housing emergencies, individuals recovering from chemical dependence, and individuals living with chronic illnesses like HIV and AIDS. The Center for Community Alternatives aims to uplift individuals who are traditionally excluded from society and to empower them to become self-advocates. They operate a number of programs which target the specific needs of various populations. Court services serve young people and adults, including counseling, treatment and the facilitation of court-mandated programs like anger management. Their reentry and treatment programs offer access to transitional housing, emergency support and services designed to promote permanent independent living.
