Create Common Good
Description
Create Common Good is a nonprofit organization committed to serving individuals who face barriers to gainful employment in the community. The organization provides real world training in the food services industry and assists individuals with job placement. Create Common Good operates without the assistance of grants or donations, instead using revenue from food manufacturing by participants in the program to create a sustainable model that continues serving new generations of individuals. Their hope is that individuals have the opportunity to develop skills that will lead to permanent, self-sufficient employment and financial security. Create Common Good serves individuals from refugee and immigrant communities, women transitioning from domestic violence situations, individuals reentering the community after incarceration and those who face chronic housing insecurity. They are also equipped to serve individuals who have disabilities that act as a barrier to employment. All participants in the program begin with classroom-based learning before entering on-the-job training programs. Graduates of the program receive three months of support and assistance finding permanent placement in the food industry.
