STRIVE Program – Pennsylvania DOC Scranton District Parole Office

STRIVE Program – Pennsylvania DOC Scranton District Parole Office

Description

The STRIVE Program is a new initiative developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections in Scranton. The program was conceived to support individuals reentering the Lackawanna County community after incarceration. State Transition Reentry Incentive Validating Endeavors, or STRIVE, is a collaborative designed based on federal reentry programs to improve the success of local and state individuals exiting the corrections system. Support partnerships will focus on several key areas that often pose barriers for individuals with criminal convictions. These include educational programming through the Northampton Community College, mental health services offered by Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. and financial security workshops provided through ESSA Bank and Trust. Additionally, individuals will receive assistance and referrals to community organizations that support the reentry process. Qualifying individuals may be eligible to receive a loan of up to $15,000 to secure stable housing, reliable transportation and/or educational programming.
