Legal Aid Society
Description
The Legal Aid Society was developed in order to address inequitable access to justice in the greater Louisville, Kentucky community. The organization was founded more than one hundred years ago by the Louisville Bar Association. Since its inception, Legal Aid Society has offered pro bono legal services and representation to low-income individuals and families. However, Legal Aid Society is only equipped to assist individuals with civil court matters; attorneys cannot provide advice or offer representation to individuals facing criminal charges or seeking an appeal. To qualify for assistance, individuals must demonstrate a household income at or below 125% of the federal poverty guideline. Those who qualify must begin with an intake interview, which they can arrange by using the application form provided on the Legal Aid Society website. For more information about available services or eligibility, individuals are encouraged to contact the Legal Aid Society directly using the information provided on the website.
