Champaign County Drug Court

The Champaign County Drug Court is a division of the Champaign criminal justice system focused on drug related crimes and treatment. The mission of the Champaign County Drug Court is to assist individuals with chemical dependence toward a substance-free, productive lifestyle and to help disrupt the cycle of criminal recidivism. They pursue this goal by assessing and directing individuals in need of chemical dependence treatment into judicially-supervised recovery programming. A drug court is a specialty court that works with chemical dependence cases through rigorous court supervision, mandatory drug testing, and treatment services. Individuals who qualify to have their case heard by Champaign County Drug Court have an opportunity to avoid incarceration in favor of community programming that will address and help heal the underlying factors that so frequently result in reincarceration. Participants who successfully complete the program avoid jail time and have a much better chance to exiting the justice system for good.
