Montgomery County Conviction Integrity Division
Description
The Montgomery County Conviction Integrity Division is a unit of the District Attorney's office tasked with investigating claims of innocence. The first and most important step for all cases is to establish credibility. In order to present a credible claim of innocence, individuals must provide ample and verifiable evidence that is new to the case or successfully illustrate how technology advancements will allow for important testing of existing evidence. The Conviction Integrity Division is only able to consider cases that refer to currently incarcerated individuals serving time as a result of conviction in the Montgomery County Superior Court. Additionally, the Conviction Integrity Division will consider other claims of wrongful conviction and unduly harsh sentencing. However, they cannot investigate cases related to individuals who have been released or those currently under review with the Appellate Court. For more information, individuals can contact the division directly by mail or through their defense attorney.
