Mississippi Division of Treatment and Programs

Mississippi Division of Treatment and Programs

Description

The Mississippi Division of Treatment and Programs operates numerous programs to assist currently incarcerated individuals. The division operates as part of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and works to assist individuals with rehabilitation that will improve their chances of successful reintegration at the end of their sentence. Educational programs are designed to help incarcerated adults bridge any gaps in their education and obtain high school equivalency diplomas to improve opportunities for gainful employment post release. The division also maintains a number of vocational programs for incarcerated men and women. Some of these programs help individuals develop essential job skills through training programs and work inside correctional facilities, while others involve pre-release job opportunities and work programs outside the correctional facility. Some individuals also have access to a legal assistance program. For more information about specific programs and availability, individuals should contact representatives at their correctional facility or request information through their defense counsel.
