Economic Opportunities

Economic Opportunities, or EcOP, is a faith-based ministry that helps justice involved adults succeed by offering employment and guidance. EcOp's purpose is to recruit, train, and develop "shepherds" who serve the justice involved and underserved adult population in the Greater Memphis Area. Shepherds are mentors that act as a driving force for Economic Opportunities. Their individualized mentorship with each participant is vital to the success of the program. In addition, shepherds serve participants by being personal master life coaches, workplace mentors, advocates, spiritual guides and advisers, collaborative problem solvers, and many other roles. Participants spend an average of four hours per month 1-on-1 with their Shepherd. EcOp's program helps reduce recidivism, helps find full-time employment and has a high retention rate. Through referrals, EcOp works closely with community partners to identify individuals who could benefit from the shepherds program.
