18th Judicial District, LA Public Defender’s Pointe Coupee Office

The 18th Judicial District Public Defender's Office has a branch office located in New Roads, LA. With District Defenders, attorneys and other support staff working on a part-time basis, the 18th Judicial District Office serves clients in Pointe Coupee Parish. This office provides legal representation to people charged with a misdemeanor, felony, capital appellate and post-conviction matters. Their mission is to advocate for clients, support practitioners and protects the public by continually improving the services guaranteed by the constitutional right to counsel. In addition, this office aims to prevent wrongful convictions, protect due process and constitutional rights, increase public safety, promote fiscal responsibility, and support economic growth throughout Louisiana. The Lousiana Public Defender Board (LPDB) oversees the work of the 18th Judicial District Office of the Public Defender.
