Alaska Housing Finance Corporation

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation offers a transitional housing program for Alaskans on parole or probation in partnership with the State of Alaska. This program is available in any Alaskan community that offers the Housing Choice Voucher program. To be considered eligible for housing, participants must be at or below 60 percent of the area median income. Individuals are encouraged to contact Alaska Housing Finance Corporation to submit an application for any Alaska Housing program with an open waiting list. Once assistance becomes available, individuals on the waiting list are invited to a briefing session that provides them detailed information about the housing program and issued a voucher. This rental assistance is available to individuals on parole or probation for up to 24 months. Once an approved rental is found, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation splits the rent into the subsidy portion and the individual renters portion, which is paid directly to the landlord.
