The Allen County Public Defender's Office, is located in Lima, Ohio. With one Chief Public Defender, one Felony Coordinator, one Misdemeanor Coordinator, one Juvenile Coordinator, and five Assistant Public Defenders, this Public Defender's Office is a full-time law practice that is dedicated to representing defendants in municipal court, in addition to adults charged with felony offenses in common pleas court and juvenile defendants. To see if you are eligible to receive representation by the Allen County Public Defender's Office, all applicants must be financially screened and found to meet State Public Defender Eligibility Guidelines. The right to counsel guaranteed to every American citizen accused of a crime is embodied in the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution and applicable to the states through the Fourteenth Amendment. An integral component of the right to counsel is the right to court-appointed counsel for those unable to hire an attorney.
