Arkansas Department of Corrections – Division of Community Correction
Description
Division of Community Correction is a program run by Arkansas Department of Corrections geared towards providing opportunities for positive change for justice impacted individuals. While they're required to prioritize enhancing public safety by enforcing state laws, they believe that community partnerships and evidence based programs can bring about positive change in formerly incarcerated individuals. These programs are more cost efficient and provide opportunities for returning citizens to become productive members of society, thus reducing recidivism and improving public safety. Arkansas Department of Corrections also provides Specialty Court programs for drug offenses, veterans, mental health, and the HOPE program for graduated sanctions. Individuals that have not been charged with violent or sex related offenses may be ordered to a Community Correction Center, where they will be provided with structure, support, education, treatment, counseling, life skills and more as part of their Modified Therapeutic Community program. Additionally, they provide an aftercare program for sex offenders, resources to transitional housing and more. Individuals can contact Arkansas Department of Corrections - Division of Community Correction or their reentry team directly for more information on their services.
