Beyond the Bars, Inc.

Beyond the Bars is a nonprofit organization that uses music and industry-based training to disrupt the cycle of incarceration and violence. They serve youth who have been impacted by violence or the justice system, providing a safe space for creativity and collaborative work related to the music industry. They offer two programs, the Student Driven Music Academy and the Practical Producer Program, which offer coursework designed to help young people enter the music industry as either creators or producers. Participants may also enter the Teacher Training Track and work toward teaching music industry courses themselves. Currently, all 8 programs are offered throughout Philadelphia at various locations.
