Description

The Bonneville County Public Defender's Office is located in Idaho Falls. With a team of Public Defenders, Staff Attorneys and other legal staff, the Bonneville County Public Defenders specialize in misdemeanors, felonies, child protection, mental commitments, juveniles, domestics, contempt hearings, guardianships, and extraditions, among other assignments. The Bonneville County Public Defender's Office works on cases assigned by the Bonneville County Courts. Defendants qualify for representation by being indigent. The attorneys prepare and defend actions against indigent individuals arising out of alleged criminal activities; interviews victims of crimes, witnesses and law enforcement officers; determines appropriate pleas or best avenue for defense as needed to establish guilt or innocence. In addition, they prepare for court by performing legal research, drafting briefs, gathering and analyzing evidence, delivering the defendants case in criminal proceedings, attends and participates in arraignments, sentencing, preliminary hearings, trials and other court hearings.
