The Bucks County Public Defender's Office is located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. With one Chief Public Defender and other supporting staff, the office represents adults and Juveniles in all phases of the criminal justice system. Various proceedings for which their legal team provides representation include bail reduction hearings, bail revocation hearings, preliminary hearings, pre-trial motions, post-conviction proceedings, mental health commitment hearings, probation/parole hearings etc. They also represent children charged with crimes in all phases of juvenile court proceedings from shortly after arrest through appeals and review hearings. In addition, they represent clients in the District Court Diversionary Program before district justices, Youthful Offender Program, Veteran's Court and ARD. The Office of the Public Defender does not handle civil matters such as child custody matters, landlord/tenant disputes, persons seeking a Protection from Abuse Order or a child support order. Also, they do not provide representation for most summary traffic offenses. However, they can make an exception for summary charges for which mandatory jail sentences may be imposed.
