Description
The Buncombe County Public Defender's Office is located in Asheville, NC. This office has one Public Defender, 12 Assistant Public Defenders, 3 Investigators and one Social Worker that defend individual defendants in criminal cases (including defendants charged with criminal, juveniles in cases in which the juvenile is alleged to be delinquent; and respondents in involuntary commitment matters. Buncombe County falls under the 28th Defender District. The attorneys represent indigent persons accused of misdemeanors and misdemeanor probation violations, felonies from classes E through I and felony probation violations, felonies from classes A through D in the District and Superior Courts. This office does not provide representation in traffic infractions, parking tickets, DMV hearings, divorce, equitable distribution and child custody, petitioning the court to return property after the disposition of a case, most civil matters where you want to sue someone or someone is suing you, including small claims, districts and superior courts and any appeals from these civil courts, gun permits or denial or gun permits and expungements.
