Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Washington

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Washington is a faith-based organization that offers vital support for community members in need. Their Prison Services include targeted counseling for formerly incarcerated individuals returning to the community. This mentorship is guided by the principle that all individuals deserve a second chance at life. Working with volunteer mentors, individuals develop life skills and prepare to enter the workforce after incarceration. Volunteers can assist with locating work and housing opportunities, reunifying with family, accessing health care, and entering treatment programs in the community. Additionally, the organization provides residential support through low-barrier shelters and permanent supportive housing communities. Low-barrier shelters offer emergency shelter to individuals experiencing homelessness or immediate crisis. They operate two men's shelters and three women's shelters across DC. Permanent supportive housing, transitional housing and single room occupancy shelters offer longer, more sustained interventions for individuals returning to the community or experiencing chronic homelessness.
