Chicago Transit Authorities’ Second Chance program
Description
Chicago Transit Authority's Second Chance Program provides valuable assistance for individuals reentering the workforce. The program is nationally recognized for its work with formerly incarcerated individuals who traditionally face barriers to gainful employment. The Second Chance Program offers essential job development workshops and career opportunities to help participants on their pathway to self-sufficiency and financial security. Staff make use of a holistic approach to ensure that all individuals receive the support they need, including individuals with criminal records, survivors of domestic violence and others who may face difficulties securing permanent employment. Individuals can apply for participation in the program either through Chicago Transit Authority Hiring Events or CTA Social Service Agency Partners. Individuals must be 18 years old, reside in Chicago and be referred to the program. Once accepted, individuals receive $15.40 per hour and may work up to 40 hours per week. Participants can remain in the program for up to one year.
