Coalition for Juvenile Justice

The Coalition for Juvenile Justice is a nationwide collective of organizations and advocates for youth at-risk of criminal justice involvement. The coalition combines the efforts of State Advisory Groups, non-profits, community members and young people who share a commitment to preventing juveniles from entering the court system and protecting those youth who are charged with criminal offenses. They achieve this goal by advocating for research-based policies that reduce juvenile interactions for the criminal justice system and working to inform community members about juvenile justice issues. They also collaborate with state and federal legislators to enact programs and policies that prevent youth involvement with the courts. Volunteers and staff ensure that states meet the federal requirements outlines in the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act and connect advocates across state lines for more efficient collaboration on shared issues. Finally, they work to ensure that justice is accessible to all community members regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status.
