Contra Costa County, CA Public Defender’s Alternate Defender Office

Description

The Contra Costa Public Defender's (CCPD) Alternate Defender Office is dedicated to ensuring justice for indigent persons accused of crimes in Contra Costa County. CCPD's overriding goal is to serve the best interests of their clients in everything that they do. They tirelessly fight for all their clients and ensure that each individual receives excellent representation. When CCPD's staff cannot represent a client due to a conflict of interest, the individual will be represented by the Alternate Defender Office (ADO), which is a separate branch of the office. If the ADO cannot provide representation to an individual, the Contra Costa Bar Association will assign an attorney to represent the individual. At CCPD, they take a holistic approach in representing their clients. The criminal justice system can impact individuals' lives in ways that go far beyond their criminal convictions. Because of this, they have developed specialty areas to help mitigate collateral consequences and ensure future success.
