CORE DC is a community based organization that hopes to improve the lives of individuals and families impacted by the justice system. Their mission is to empower communities, families and individuals through a series of transitional/short-term housing options that are supportive and affordable for justice involved individuals, as well as evidence based programs to improve participants' lives. The Horizon is a short-term housing community in Ward 7 that serves up to 35 families at a time, offering emergency housing for those experiencing housing insecurity. Additionally, residents have access to computer labs, recreational spaces and a study lounge. The Aya is located in Ward 6 and assists up to 50 families at one time, offering similar services to The Horizon, as well as targeted programming that addresses the root of homelessness and housing insecurity.
