The Office of Counsel for Defense of Chelan County is located in Wenatchee, WA. With a team of public defenders, staff attorneys and other legal staff, this office provides legal representation to adults and juveniles accused of a crime and cannot afford to pay a lawyer in Chelan County. The WA Office of the Public Defender (OPD) administers the Counsel for Defense of Chelan County. The mission of OPD is to uphold the rights of all people who are facing the loss of liberty or family by providing statewide leadership, administration and support to the multidisciplinary public defense profession. In addition, the OPD administers a public defense improvement program. This law provides state funding to Chelan County and its cities for improving public defense services. OPD also provides training and additional resource support for local public defense attorneys. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, you may ask the court to appoint a public defense attorney to represent you.
