Description
The Essex County Pre-release and Re-entry Center is a part of the Essex County Sheriff's Office that assists with the reentry process. Originally opened as a home for boys more than one hundred years ago, but has operated as a housing facility for low-risk individuals and those nearing the end of their sentences over the past sixty years. The The Essex County Pre-release and Re-entry Center staff offers reintegration services for currently incarcerated individuals as part of the reentry process permitting them to work their way from the Middleton facility to the ECPRC. As a pre-release facility, Essex County Pre-release and Re-entry Center requires incarcerated individuals to have additional responsibilities, including more program requirements and class participation, as well as additional work responsibilities, community service or work release.
