Extended Family Help

Extended Family teaches families of prisoners how to successfully adjust to a new way of life. They offer a free, solution-based approach to the prison experience. They aim to assist families and returning citizens through the transition of re-entry; this division provides educational programs to help the process of "going home" run smoothly for everyone. Their program "Going Home" is a two-hour, interactive workshop to help to re-enter individuals and their families and adjust to life on the outside. The focus is on the family dynamics that occur when an incarcerated individual returns home, bringing with them a way of life that worked for them on the "inside", but is foreign to Family on the "outside.". This workshop identifies six specific problem areas faced by returning citizens and those they live with. Practical solutions are taught for each problem. Workshop participants are equipped with new tools to use during that first year of re-entry. Please contact them for more information on the services this organization provides.
