F.I.S.T, Inc.

F.I.S.T (Former Inmates Striving Together) Inc. is an Illinois-based nonprofit organization with a mission to serve God by assisting and encouraging fellow formerly incarcerated individuals to assimilate into mainstream society, through Christian Ministry, fellowship, and guidance. F.I.S.T. is run by formerly incarcerated men and women drawing on their experiences and focusing their energy on assisting ex-offenders being reintegrated back into society. F.I.S.T. has a resource center and a housing unit located in Waukegan, IL. At their resource center, they provide avenues to assist in obtaining identification, food stamps, mental and physical health and well-being, Spiritual guidance, resume writing services, and possible job leads as they become available. They also organize weekly bible study/ALPHA program and mentorship for its residents. F.I.S.T's residents typically graduate in varying time-frames: 6 months- with strong support system, 9 months- medium support system and need more time for financial saving and 1 year- low support system and have come across extreme barriers.
