The First Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Wheeling office, located in West Virginia, serves indigent clients in Ohio County. With a team of one Chief Public Defender, one Acting Public Defender, three Assistant Public Defenders and other legal staff, this office provides legal representation to adults and juveniles accused of a crime who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer in Ohio county. The Public Defender Services (PDS) administers the Second Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office. PDS funds all indigent defense for the State of West Virginia. They provide representation by two methods- private attorneys on a court-appointed basis and full-time public defenders at public defender corporations.
