Free Hearts

Description

Free Hearts is a community based organization that supports, reunites and empowers families impacted by incarceration in Tennessee. The support groups offer wraparound services for women and children impacted by incarceration. In addition, Free Hearts has school support groups for children whose parents are incarcerated or deported. Outside In is a 10-week evidence-based program during school hours where students whose parents or siblings are incarcerated or deported work on leadership development and coping skills. Moreover, they advocate for families impacted by incarceration as individuals and through public policy. The organization also offers classes in the community and correctional facilities. Free Heart's Inside Out is a 45-week evidence-based program in jails, prisons and juvenile detention where incarcerated women and girls participate in eight different certificate courses, working from behind prison to heal and advance their lives. The courses include parenting, anger management, and cognitive behavioral therapy. For more information, contact the organization directly.
