Heartland Re-Entry Program
The Heartland Alliance is an expansive organization with a mission to promote equity and human rights across the globe. Their Heartland Re-Entry Program offers residential services for up to ten justice-involved young people ages 12-17 who would benefit from increased stability before they enter permanent residential placement. The program spans approximately 3-6 months depending on individual needs and progress. During this period, youth receive counseling services from Masters level clinicians; psychiatric support including assessment, prescription management and monitoring for the efficacy of psychotropic medications; physical development; medical services; educational opportunities; and placement services for permanent residence. Young people in the program engage in research-based restorative justice practices. The goal of Heartland Re-Entry is to help break the cycle of incarceration and reduce recidivism before young people are defined by their criminal convictions.
