Heartland Re-Entry Program

The Heartland Alliance is an expansive organization with a mission to promote equity and human rights across the globe. Their Heartland Re-Entry Program offers residential services for up to ten justice-involved young people ages 12-17 who would benefit from increased stability before they enter permanent residential placement. The program spans approximately 3-6 months depending on individual needs and progress. During this period, youth receive counseling services from Masters level clinicians; psychiatric support including assessment, prescription management and monitoring for the efficacy of psychotropic medications; physical development; medical services; educational opportunities; and placement services for permanent residence. Young people in the program engage in research-based restorative justice practices. The goal of Heartland Re-Entry is to help break the cycle of incarceration and reduce recidivism before young people are defined by their criminal convictions. For more information about specific services and eligibility, individuals should contact the organization directly using the information on this page.
