Lavender Rights Project

Lavender Rights Project

Description

The Lavender Rights Project is an organization that provides advocacy, programs, and legal services for Black gender diverse communities. The project's mission is to disrupt the harm that legal systems cause Black queer communities through advocacy and supportive legal services. Some of their law services include arrest consultations and legal advice, direct representation for misdemeanor cases, representation for limited felonies, review hearings, and post-adjudication services. Their law services also span civil rights cases related to discrimination in schools, housing, employment, jails, and public accommodation. Their legal team is also leading a program that helps incarcerated Black gender diverse individuals petition for gender-affirming identity documents across Washington state. Located in Washington state, the project has offices in Seattle and Tacoma. The legal team is entirely made up of BIPOC trans individuals.
