Mini-Cassia County, ID Public Defender’s Office

The Mini-Cassia County Public Defender's Office, located in Burley, ID, is a joint county office for both Minidoka and Cassia counties. The office is led by the Chief Public Defender and staffed with one Chief Deputy Public Defender, three Deputy Public Defenders and other support staff. The Public Defenders provide advice and court representation free of charge for those unable to retain private counsel and provide legal services by court appointment only. The right to counsel guaranteed to every American citizen accused of a crime is embodied in the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution and made applicable to the states through the Fourteenth Amendment. An integral component of the right to counsel is the right to court-appointed counsel for those unable to hire an attorney.
