Mississippi Department of Human Services Division of Youth Services is integral to supporting justice impacted youth. Their core mission is to monitor young people on probation, facilitate after care programming for youth released back into the community, and intervene with at risk youth before they enter the criminal justice system. Probation and aftercare services center counseling and family reunification support in the hopes that individuals are able to successfully return to the community and their family homes. This also includes pre-trial investigation, intensive case management services, and referrals to social service programs specializing in supporting formerly incarcerated youth. Institutional Care for young people referred through Oakley Youth Development Center receive a strong, accredited education as they meet court mandated supervision requirements. Williams School works with justice involved youth who reach 18 years of age and require assistance entering the workforce or obtaining a GED.
