Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project (MVLP)
Description
Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project is a coalition of accredited lawyers committed to offering social justice regardless of income. They are committed to ensuring that all residents of Mississippi have access to equitable justice and strong legal representation as they navigate the court system. During 2021, the organization offered 36 total workshops and impacted almost four thousand Mississippi residents. Their impact can be measured in three distinct ways: direct legal representation, legal advice and support for individuals are representing themselves, and a database of carefully curated resources for individuals facing legal troubles. Currently, potential clients must demonstrate that they live at or below 200% of the federal poverty line in order to qualify for services, as Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project exclusively serves indigent clients. For more information about specific services, or to request assistance with ongoing legal matters, individuals should contact the organization directly using the information provided to them on this page.
