Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (MADP)

Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (MADP) is a statewide advocacy group working to eradicate the death penalty in Missouri by informing community members and policymakers about the costs and ramifications of capital punishment. Staff hope to empower the loved ones of murdered individuals, exonerees, communities, social justice allies, broad faith and conscience traditions, as well as community members, to work together in developing new pathways to abolition. With collaborative partners, staff address the underlying causes of capital punishment by requesting direct support to challenge individual executions and the systemic factors which facilitate them. Through alerts to community stakeholders, advocates in the media, and educational gatherings, staff work to prevent executions and to make permanent changes to the criminal justice system. Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty believes strongly in involving all members of the local and state communities in the collective effort to end the use of the death penalty in MIssouri.
