Napa County Conviction Integrity Unit
Description
The Napa County Conviction Integrity Unit operates out of the Napa County District Attorney's office and investigates claims of innocence. Their goal is to ensure that all individuals receive justice and to investigate the credibility of all official claims of innocence or wrongful conviction filed with the Napa County court system. Individuals must be currently incarcerated and serving time for a conviction related to charges tried in the Napa County Superior Court in order to request a review of their case. Additionally, all formal claims of innocence, wrongful conviction or excessive sentencing must present new evidence not previously considered by the court or demonstrate how new technologies allow the court to process evidence already entered into the official record. Those who provide strong evidence to support their claims may be eligible for release or a revised sentence based on the recommendation of the Conviction Integrity Unit to the District Attorney.
