New Mexico Department of Corrections Reentry Division
Description
The New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) is one of New Mexico's largest State Departments. The Adult Facilities Division administers its facilities in a way that promotes public safety and recidivism reduction. The Reentry Division is committed to reducing incarcerated criminal attitudes and behavior. The NMCD's reintegration programs prepare incarcerated individuals to become responsible citizens after release. This office is committed to providing research based programs that will give persons involved in the justice system the skills they need to be productive and law abiding citizens. Individuals recently released from the prison system are given a prerelease guide to educate them on the procedures that help with community reintegration. In addition, cognitive behavioral therapy programs and courses assist justice impacted individuals in recognizing destructive behavior patterns and developing constructive, pro-social thinking habits in all aspects of their lives. Contact the New Mexico Corrections Department directly for more information on their services.
