North Carolina Cure
Description
NC-CURE (Citizens United for Restorative Effectiveness) is a nonprofit grassroots prison advocacy organization run entirely by volunteers. Their primary goal is to advocate against all forms of inhumane treatment of incarcerated people. The organization also works to solve structural issues that have an adverse impact on prison conditions, recidivism, and public safety. NC-CURE believes incarcerated individuals should receive all the services they need to change their lives and become contributing members of society. The group promotes and provides hope to incarcerated individuals and their loved ones and actively advocates for changes in North Carolina prison processes to protect justice-impacted individuals' human rights. North Carolina prisons will effectively prepare individuals for successful reintegration into society. Additionally, the group collaborates with criminal justice reform organizations to promote fair treatment of those incarcerated in North Carolina prisons and to provide materials for members and the general public to understand the prison system better.
