Partakers

Partakers is a community based organization that seeks to improve access to higher education for incarcerated individuals. The organization advances the education of currently incarcerated women and men in prison and helps them to overcome to great divide that separates those inside and outside corrections facilities. Through its College Behind Bars mentoring program, currently incarcerated individuals improve skills essential to completing a college degree and develop trusting personal relationships. Both activities significantly improve the chances of currently incarcerated individuals for success when returning to the community. Their Extended Learning Program assists with occupational and vocational certificates by providing distance learning courses and video lectures. The Partakers’ Correspondence Course Program offers academic courses to pre-release and lesser sentenced students.
