PATCH – Parents and Their Children

Description

PATCH - Parents and Their Children is a community based organization dedicated to supporting incarcerated mothers and their children. Their mission is to strengthen relationships that are strained or difficult as a result of involvement with the justice system. The first phase of the program consists of parenting classes specially developed for currently incarcerated mothers. These classes begin and end with checks for understanding, and all classes must be completed for mothers to remain in the program. The second phase of the program involves supervised visitation between mothers, their children, and a PATCH staff member or trained volunteer. Participants complete ongoing peer workshops to earn additional visits and strengthen their understanding of core principles. The final phase invests community members and caregivers in the effort to reunite justice involved mothers with their children during and after incarceration.
