The Petey Greene Program (PGP) is a nonprofit organization that educates volunteers about the injustices in the criminal justice system and provides free tutoring to current and formerly incarcerated learners. Since their inception in 2008, the Petey Greene Program has been active in the state of New Jersey with a mission of recruiting and training college students and community volunteers to serve as tutors for justice involved individuals. Their primary focus is to support students currently enrolled in high school equivalency programs with tutoring opportunities for the following subjects: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The Petey Greene Program and other partner programs can currently be found at Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, Middlesex County Jail, South Woods State Prison, East Jersey State Prison, Rutgers University - Mountainview Community, JEVS - Opportunity Youth Academy and Northern State Prison.
