Saint Cecilia Parish Prison and After Ministry
Description
Saint Cecilia Parish Prison and After Ministry is a program developed and maintained by Saint Cecilia Parish to support justice involved individuals. It is one of numerous outreach ministries that demonstrate Saint Cecilia Parish's dedication to improve the lives of low income individuals, those experiencing homelessness or racial oppression, and those involved with the criminal justice system. Each Monday evening, a group of parishioners comes together and welcomes men, many of whom live in nearby transitional homes. From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m, two or more support groups meet and empower the men to share with others about their daily lives. Parishioners both facilitate these groups and participate in them. At 7:00 p.m, all participants join in a meal together. Participants depart at 8:00 p.m, while volunteer parishioners stay to clean up and meet briefly. This is a valuable way to make a difference in the lives of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated men.
