Shelby County Office of Reentry

Description

The Shelby County Office of Reentry is a community based organization that assists people returning from prison with the support of the Tennessee DOC and the Shelby County Government. The Office of Reentry aims to create connections between Shelby County reentry resources and specific employers ready to hire people with a criminal history. They provide essential reentry resources for returning citizens in one place. Additionally, they help participants with preparing for and getting employment. FOCUSED is an 11-week training program that combines job readiness with the opportunity for selection into one of their vocational training programs. In addition to job readiness, individuals receive information related to family reconnection, financial literacy, healthy living, expungement and voting rights restoration. Upon completion, participants earn livable wages utilizing the hard skills obtained through employment or entrepreneurship. Other programs include Briggs and Stratton Basic Small Engine Repair Certification and Inspiring New Koncepts (INK)—a pre-release program with post-release support. Contact the Shelby County Office of Reentry directly to learn more about their reentry programs and services.
