The Snohomish County Public Defender Association (SCPDA) is a private, non-profit law office incorporated under the laws of the State of Washington, located in Everett. SCPDA provides defense services to persons facing a loss of liberty under criminal and civil laws. The goal of the association is to provide the highest quality of legal representation to its clients. The office has several attorneys and other support staff that serves adults and juveniles charged with felonies and misdemeanors, civil commitment, appealing misdemeanor convictions to Superior Court and adults and juveniles facing incarceration in contempt proceedings. On February 25, 2021, in State v. Blake, the Washington Supreme Court held that the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (UPCS) statute, is unconstitutional. As such, the SCPDA can represent certain groups of individuals regarding vacating their Blake-affected conviction.
