South Carolina DOC Reentry Services

South Carolina DOC Reentry Services

Description

The South Carolina Department of Corrections offers Reentry and Rehabilitative Services to incarcerated individuals nearing release. Inside the DOC facility, incarcerated individuals learn new job skills, obtain their GED, earn vocational certificates, receive substance abuse treatment, learn about how crimes affect victims and even assist in teaching youth about life in prison. Along with reentry support, the DOC offers other resources to help justice-impacted individuals reintegrate successfully. In recognition of Second Chance Month, the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs releases its initial Second Chance Reentry Resource Guide. The guide includes local, state and national resources designed to assist the formerly incarcerated as they transition back to their communities. Individuals can access this guide on South Carolina DOC's website. Additionally, individuals can utilize a list of federally qualified health centers and housing resource lists for people with criminal history. For more information or to request assistance, please contact South Carolina DOC directly.
