State of New Jersey Office of the Attorney General Matthew J Platkin, Conviction Review Unit.

Description

The State of New Jersey Office of the Attorney General Matthew J Platkin Conviction Review Unit (CRU) is a unit whose mission is to review claims of actual innocence by persons convicted of felonies in New Jersey state courts. They aim to evaluate these claims and investigate whether there is clear and convincing evidence of actual innocence. The prosecution must have occurred in the New Jersey Superior Court, Criminal Division, to be eligible for review by the CRU. The conviction must be for a felony. Individuals in custody, serving time on the sentence for which they were wrongfully convicted will have priority over those who have been released from custody. The application for review must be based on credible and verifiable evidence of innocence. Cases are screened to determine which are appropriate for a full re-investigation. Individuals seeking a review must cooperate fully with the CRU. Please visit their website to access the form to request a review by the CRU.
