The Office of Suffolk County Assigned Counsel Defender Plan (SCACP) is located at the Courthouse Corporate Center in Central Islip, New York. The objective of the Suffolk County Assigned Counsel Defender Plan is to ensure high-quality legal services for every individual represented under the plan. Their in-house team consists of Criminal Investigators, Social Workers, Regional Immigration attorneys, Pre-Sentence Mitigation specialists, consulting trial attorneys, and Support Staff. All indigent defendants in Suffolk County charged with murder are represented by private attorneys assigned under the Assigned Counsel Defender Plan. In addition, felony assignments consist of cases that are initiated by an assignment from District Court in Central Islip, County Court in Riverhead and/or the Village/Justice Courts. SCACP also has a Misdemeanor Panel, Family Panel, Supreme Court Panel and Appellate Court Panel.
