Texas Center for Justice and Equity

The Texas Center for Justice and Equity (TCJE) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization headquartered in Austin, Texas. TCJE advances solutions and builds coalitions to end mass incarceration and foster safer Texas communities. TCJE thrives for a community where incarceration is rare and every person has the opportunity to succeed. TCJE's Youth Justice policy work includes Raise the Age, Second Look, school policing reform, restorative justice, juvenile record sealing, and more. The policies on Women's Justice work include family reunification, an expansion of in-prison programming for women, better care for incarcerated pregnant women, and more. They also work on alternatives to incarceration such as policies including drug penalty reform, probation improvements, pretrial/bail reform, state jail reform, and more. The prison Conditions of Confinement policy works include oversight, SAFP program improvements, visitation reform. TCJE's network expands to Parole and Reentry assistance where their policy work includes parole reform, reentry housing options, expanded occupational licensing and peer support.
