The Attorney General of Texas Child Support Division
Description
The Attorney General of Texas Child Support Division (CSD) is a state agency responsible for establishing and enforcing child support. A parent’s obligation to pay child support does not automatically stop when they are incarcerated. As a result, the CSD helps parents engage with the child support program while incarcerated and when returning to the community. The division also works with the families and friends of the incarcerated so they can act as liaisons between the Child Support Division and the parent. The Child Support Division can provide basic information about their child support case, the terms of their order (monthly payments and total arrears owed), review and determine eligibility for a child support modification and provide information on how to establish paternity. In addition, the CSD helps an incarcerated parent to either stop or modify the court-ordered amount of child support. Contact the Office of the Attorney General to learn more about the Child Support Division services.
